Expanding their world

Memorial Day Lesson for the Children

The Rev. Jeffrey Gargano's children's sermon during worship on Sunday, May 26 featured a message about Memorial Day and the Revolutionary War heroes laid to rest in the Old Dutch Church Burying Ground. He concluded with a prayer reminding us all to cherish the memory of soldiers who died in service to our country and to be grateful for all our soldiers and the sacrifices they make.

There's a Place for the Children, Too ...

The fun and learning don't stop when the congregation moves to the Old Dutch Church for Sunday worship. During the worship hour most Sundays, weather permitting, Bible stories and crafts for young children will take place in a shady spot or under an awning in the churchyard. Nursery care for infants and toddlers is also available inside a playyard fence in the churchyard. Middle school and high schoolers will remain in the worship service. Join us at Old Dutch this summer. Everyone is welcome!

To Parents of Young Children

From Labor Day in September until mid-June, when worship is held at the "Clock Tower" Church in Tarrytown, moms and dads of young children who prefer not to sit in the sanctuary have a comfortable place to go on Sunday mornings and still see and hear the worship service. An upgrade to the Friendship Room's sound and projection equipment allows worship services in the sanctuary to be projected live on a large screen there.

Children's Choirs

Our free choral program for children of all ages provides them the chance to sing and ring hand bells to hymns and popular Christian melodies and to enjoy Christian fellowship. Cherub Choir I meets on Wednesday directly after New Beginnings nursery school, from noon to 12:40. Cherub Choir II meets shortly after school on Wednesdays, from 4 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. The Junior Choir meets later in the afternoon on Wednesdays, from 4:45 to 5:45. If you are new to choir and would like your children to participate, please contact the church office, (tel. 914-631-4497) and leave a message for Nell Macdonald, children's choir director.
