A Community of Faith

We gather as friends to grow more deeply in faith, to educate our children in the Good News of a loving Savior, and to worship an Almighty God.

Steeped in History

Our congregation began in 1697 in the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow, made famous by Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." We worship there on summer Sundays.

Come as you are

People from many different traditions have a spiritual home in the Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns. We come together before God and one another just as we are.

Fall Highlights

(Clockwise from top left) Reformation Sunday worship at Old Dutch Church was made even more special this year by music last peformed during an Old Dutch anniversary celebration in 1997. "If God Himself Be For Me" was written especially for the 300th anniversary that year by Paul Gerhardt (words) and Craig Courtney (music). The words were inspired by Romans 8:31, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" which is engraved on the Old Dutch Church bell.
In other activities, Pastor Jeff's children's sermons continue to surprise and engage the young ones, to the delight of the congregation. He uses stories and skits to teach  children about the Bible during the 10:30 worship service. Afterward, they are dismissed to Sunday School.
On Nov. 4, everyone was invited to Ammerman Hall following worship at the Clock Tower Church for a Thanksgiving Feast, the theme for November's First-Sunday Brunch. The highlight was a surprise birthday celebration for Lynn McReddie.
Two of our teenagers, Temper and Oliver, shopped with Pastor Julia at Stop & Shop after church on Nov. 18 for the makings of Thanksgiving dinner for two families in the area.

New in Town?

Clock Church

The Reformed Church has been engaged in the Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown community since 1697, first at the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow and continuing at the Town Clock Church in Tarrytown. The first meeting of the YMCA was held here, and the local Boy Scout Troop has had its home here for more than 60 years. Our New Beginnings Nursery School provides children with a great early educational opportunity in a loving and gentle environment. Five recovery groups meet in our building. We host concerts and recitals throughout the year, and our congregation supports the local food pantry, the Midnight Run, and several denominational ministries. We would be honored for you to join us on a journey of faith and service as we grow together.

How to Become a Member

If you've gotten to know our church and would like to "officially" become a member, there's just the simple formality required of saying "yes" to our yes. The Elders would love to meet with you and formally welcome you into membership. Then, on a subsequent Sunday, before the congregation, there is a simple ceremony of welcome. If you'd like to know more, or have questions, speak with Pastors Jeff or Julia or any of the Elders: Renee Chillemi, David Kim, Maria Canales or John Phillips.

Reformed From What?

What can I expect when I attend a service? Do you still hold services at the Old Dutch Church? Why do you add an "s" to Tarrytown? Answers to your questions.
