Steeped in History

Our congregation began in 1697 in the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow, made famous by Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." We worship there on summer Sundays.

A community of faith

We gather as friends to grow more deeply in faith, to educate our children in the Good News of a loving Savior, and to worship an Almighty God.

Come as you are

People from many different traditions have a spiritual home in the Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns. We come together before God and one another just as we are.

Special Service at Old Dutch

The Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns will hold a Reformation Sunday service at the Old Dutch Church on Oct. 29 at 10:30 a.m. This is the 500th anniversary of this religious holiday dating to Martin Luther. A guest organist will be announced. Everyone is welcome.

We are glad to meet you here, but candidly, we'd much prefer to meet you in person. Consider this my invitation to join us on a Sunday morning when we worship at 10:30 a.m. at the Clock Church, 42 North Broadway,Tarrytown, N.Y.

You're  also welcome to just stop by the church office, where you can find me almost any morning.

The Rev. Jeffrey Gargano

The purpose of the Deacons/Caregivers program is to help the Pastor care for and keep in touch with members of the church family experiencing illness or other difficulties, and to reach out to others outside the church. Caregivers deliver flowers on and meals on holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, and make phone calls and visit and mail birthday greethings throughout the year.

Give to the Recovery Efforts

Your donations are crucial to helping storm survivors in Texas who are least likely to receive adequate assistance in recovering from Hurricane Harvey. RCA Global Mission has teamed up with World Renew Disaster Response Services to help with the rebuilding effort. The Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns is collecting donations to support their effort.

St. Thomas Reformed Church is collecting donations to aid survivors of Hurricane Irma on this devastated Caribbean Island. Pastor Jeff Neevil says that money is most helpful at this time, which will enable the congregation to buy water, milk and supplies in St. Croix and bring them to the island by boat. Send checks to Regional Synod of NY, 42 N. Broadway, Tarrytown, NY 10591.

New in Town?

Clock Church

The Reformed Church has been engaged in the Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown community since 1697, first at the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow and continuing at the Town Clock Church in Tarrytown. The first meeting of the YMCA was held here, and the local Boy Scout Troop has had its home here for more than 60 years. Our New Beginnings Nursery School provides children with a great early educational opportunity in a loving and gentle environment. Five recovery groups meet in our building. We host concerts and recitals throughout the year, and our congregation supports the local food pantry, the Midnight Run, and several denominational ministries. We would be honored for you to join us on a journey of faith and service as we grow together.

Let the Children Sing!

Our free choral program for children of all ages provides them the chance to sing and ring hand bells to hymns and popular Christian melodies and to enjoy Christian fellowship. Click for more information about our two Cherub Choirs and Junior Choir.

Old Dutch Church Is Now Wheelchair Accessible

Pictured above is the new entrance to the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow. The renovation work was completed this past spring. The church is now easily accessible via a wheelchair ramp. Also, a new stairway has replaced the former uneven steps. Coming soon: paved paths in the churchyard

Open Hours at Old Dutch

The Old Dutch Church will be open Saturdays in September for sightseeing visits from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A volunteer will be present to talk about and answer questions about the church's colonial Dutch origin, its role in Washington Irving's "Legend of Sleepy Hollow," its connection to the Revolutionary War and its importance in the history of the area.

Isn’t it possible that while that Confederate flag might communicate at a deep and visceral level one thing to white southerners, about history and place and heritage and identity, .... it viscerally communicates something completely different to black southerners. -- Rev. Jeffery Gargano, sermon, July 21, 2015, four days after the race-based attack at Mother Emanuel AME Church, Charleston. Full sermon...
